A brilliant coffee maker! Compact and neat on the kitchen side. No leaks or drips. A previous reviewer stated that the pot was hard to clean because the hinged lid did not come off. This is not the case, if you ‘pinch’ the hinge the lid comes off and it just clicks back into place after.

This has changed a lot in our office, the old machine was soooo slow, this one is fast effective, easy to use and makes great coffee. the only problem is now we spend a lot more money on ground coffee!!!!

  4. You are just not clearing out all the contaminants in the water. Think of re-using a coffee filter over and over again…it will still allow some coffee through, but eventually it will get clogged. With water filters they still allow water to flow through, but all the bad “stuff” goes through as well.

  5. I do not know what kind of fridge you have, but mine has a filter for the water/ice. Some will have a light that will tell you to replace it. I just replaced mine..after a year..the man at the store said that once a year is good… but if you have hard well water without some sort of filter on it you might need to replace after 6 months. They are very expensive. I paid $ 50.00 plus tax for mine.

  6. Most refrigerator water filters, which meet NSF/ANSI 42 certification standards, use granular activated carbon (GAC) to attract chemicals and impurities responsible for bad taste and odor.

These filters are not capable, however, to rid water of more dangerous, health-threatening contaminants. The method by which water is channeled through the filters does not allow sufficient time to complete the absorption of the bad substances. So Various bacteria are formed, trapped and allowed to multiply, which further contaminates water processed by the filters.

Carbon is not capable to absorb heavy metals, such as lead. GAC filters may trap some heavy metals and sediments, but allow others to filter through to the output water.

Failure to change the water filter, every six months, allows unabsorbed water contaminants and newly formed bacteria to saturate the filter, forcing the filter to leak contaminants back into processed water.

The water output may contain more contaminants than the filter was intended to remove in the first place.

  7. Some refrigs allow you to remove the filter if you don’t want to use one. But you’d have to check your owner’s manual to see if that’s the case with yours. If it is, just take it out and let the water run untreated.

All the older refrigs had no filters and none of us has died (that I know of) from tap water.
